BNR Exotics: Exotic Fruit Farming Grown on Indian Soil

BNR Exotics is an exotic fruit farming business built on one firm belief: the fruits most Indians only ever see in imported supermarket crates can be grown, perfected and sold straight from Indian farms. We are best known for dragon fruit — cultivated at scale across dozens of varieties and turned into products that go far beyond the fresh fruit — as well as bulk avocado, papaya and ginger.

How It All Began

Our story starts with Ramesh Reddy Basanthapur, whose love of agriculture drew him away from a conventional MBA career and out into the field. What began as curiosity about dragon fruit turned into a drive to master it — different varieties, different climates, different methods. That work made him the first person in Asia to cultivate 80 distinct dragon fruit varieties, a collection that still forms the backbone of everything we grow and teach today.

On that foundation, we pioneered dragon fruit wine production in India and created a range of by-products, including dragon fruit cosmetics. Today the company generates an annual turnover of around 2 Crore Rupees through dragon fruit plant and fruit sales, along with by-product sales such as dragon fruit wine and cosmetics.

On the product side, we grow and sell dragon fruit, avocado, papaya and ginger, and offer fruits, plants and exotic fruit plants for sale — including our dragon fruit wine and cosmetics.
